The American greeting card giant Hallmark has gone gay and decided to add same-sex appropriate congratulations cards to their US card range.
While most states in America still don't recognise gay marriage, the company has obviously seen the (perhaps money-coloured) light and decided to cater to gays now that California is on board with gay marriage. Hallmark cards feature neutral language with no reference to weddings or marriage, also making them suitable commitment ceremonies.
The company says the inclusion of the gay cards is purely a response to consumer demand, not the result of any political pressure. "It's our goal to be as relevant as possible to as many people as we can," said Hallmark spokesperson Sarah Gronberg Kolell.
Hallmark began selling 'coming out' cards last year, and four designs for the same-sex marriage cards will be rolled out over the next few months.
